I love my job....
For everything bad that may happen, there is a lot of good that comes with it. Bureaucracy is such a funny institution. Communication is the key to all of society, yet, inevitably, somewhere down the line, it seems to always break down. Communications breakdown in bureaucracy is both funny and incredibly stupid, yet very fascinating.

The War is Over....
No not Iraq or our Presidential election. It is one of the longest civil war's in history and it will official end on Friday.
The IndyCar War has finally ended after 12 long years. The Champ Car side finally caved in to their senses and realized Tony George and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway were right from the beginning.
IndyCar racing is back as one series now....Thank God.
Thank you Tony for sticking to your principles. See you at Sears Point this year!

Thursday's Thoughts...The Rain Edition
- It's been raining here all week with very low snow levels (down to Colfax/Grass Valley and the Bay Area hills!). I have to go to Nevada City for a meeting this afternoon regarding Nevada County's Regional Transportation Mitigation Fee program. Im on the TAC (that's tech advise committee) for NCTC (Nevada County Transportation Commission) that helps formulate policy and direction. So I get to be in the snow later on...woohoo!
- The cold is actually a sinus infection and have now been on amoxicillin for a week now. Finally finding relief (and its not spelled R-O-L-A-I-D-S).
- Women's basketball game tonight against Weber State. They are 2-2 in conf. play and they have come a long way. The men dropped another one last night at Weber. I think Jerome is done as our coach after the season. Too bad too because he has really stabilized the program in his eight years as coach. Time for a new direction because 3-15 and 1-6 in conf. will not get it done.
- Missed out on a training opportunity next week in Ventura (which is a bummer). What a free week by the ocean. Please twist my arm. Though I am going to San Diego at the beginning of March for 3 days as I am on the statewide committee (our district's rep) for Local Development Review (also known as IGR).
- And last but not least, everyone has acknowledge that after the Pats-Giants game in Week 17, I said that if the G-men play in the playoffs like they did after that first game, they would get a rematch. And they have. Im going for New England to see history be made.
That's all for now.

Im Sick Again and Granddad Dale has passed.
So a few things. First on New Years Morning, Granddad Dale lost his battle with Alzheimers and peacefully went home to the Lord. This past Saturday was his funeral and it was pouring rain during the service graveside. I had a little cough going into the weekend (and if you hadn't heard about the storms we had in Northern California last weekend...where have you been!) but being outdoors in it made it worse...so I am now sick again...possible bronchitis.
Anyway, during the service, the cemetery was supposed to have an Honor Guard for him because of his service during WWII. They never showed up so because of my JROTC training, I ended up folding the flag and presenting it to Grandma Lourdes. A very touching moment.
So, I am here again in bed with Lauren also being sick as a dog. Poor thing...she doesn't quite realize what's up, though she has been a good sport though.

Clear Channel is a sham!
For those who know me, I consider myself a pretty ardent capitalist. However, Clear Channel here in town is sacrificing long-time Sacramento institutions for the power of the dollar (which currently sucks right now, but I digress).
Clear Channel is getting rid of Paul and Lori and their program on Y92. This is the latest move in an ongoing purge of talent at 5 of the stations they own in Sacramento. I believe they drove Sacramento's favorite talk show host Tom Sullivan to leave and take the position at Fox Business and take his radio show national. Then they let go of Phil Cowan, another long-time employee and former host of the Paul and Phil show on Y92.
I just sent a scathing email to Clear Channel Sacramento GM Jeff Holden about he and his ilk are no longer welcome in Sacramento after their purge of these great Sacramentans for the value of the buck. They basically want to replace all live talent, especially on the music side, automated programming with no human voice behind the mike.
We have hit a new low as a society!

Well Again
I finally got over the flu and I am back to work. Its still raining throughout the Sacramento region. The snowfall and the rain we have received this week will help us try to avoid a drought this year. I want to start off the new year skiiing at Sugar Bowl, and wakeboarding/houseboating at Shasta in July.

Its Raining and Im Sick...
So I have been down with this year's flu since yesterday and we are getting a major storm here in Northern California. There is snow in the mountains. How I wish I could be in my Caltrans truck up there in the wintry delight instead of lying in bed with my back aching!

Wintertime
Its raining here today. I love the rain. I love lying in bed and listening to it rain when its dark out. I love the fire in the fireplace keeping the home nice and toasty. I just wish it could snow here in the valley though (not like a Buffalo snowfall, just a couple of inches here and there).

Dang it...
I got a speeding ticket this morning at 5am heading to work. I got caught going 50 in a 35. Most of the road is 45 except for this one pocket where it goes down to 35...and that's where I got nabbed by CHP.
D'oh!
D'oh!

Moved to Marysville
Moved my office to Marysville this morning. 47.2 miles from home to office is now my commute. Im tired and am going to bed....long day tomorrow: Nevada County Trans. Commission in the morning, set-up meetings for the next few weeks, then men's hoops tomorrow night against Southern Utah.

Davis...
Once again we fell to the ags...eighth year in a row.

The double humanity of it all.....AGAIN!
I'm so bitter right now. And the aggie band had the audacity to play a song while our band played our Alma Mater. We let them play their's uninterrupted. A**holes!

Oh the Humanity....
Volleyball's conference home winning streak is over at 59 straight...dating back to Oct. 28, 1999. Our third loss in our last four games, and again, tonight, like all the losses this year, in five games. This time it was Weber State. We lost 23-21 in the final frame.
